Iraqi President Jalal Talabani has said that the strong bilateral relations between Turkey and Iraq was essential and beneficial to reinforce peace in the region.
A written statement by his office said that Talabani received Turkey's Ambassador in Baghdad Yunus Demirer.
Talabani said that strong bilateral relations between Turkey and Iraq would reinforce peace in the region, and was essential for brotherhood and progress. He added that Iraq was ambitious in cooperating on political, economic, commercial, cultural and other fields.
Ambassador Demirer said Turkey works for consolidation of cooperation between the two countries.
