Serdar Cam, chairman of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), met Monday with Hayel Dawoud, Jordanian minister of religious endowments (awqaf) and Islamic affairs, in Jordanian capital Amman.
Discussions tackled means of enhancing cooperation between the Jordanian government and the Turkish agency, along with issues related to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the ministry said in a statement, a copy of which was obtained by Anadolu Agency.
"We hold our close relations with Turkey in high esteem," Dawoud said, reiterating his country's keenness to expand its relations with Turkey in all fields.
Meanwhile, Turkish Ambassador to Jordan Sedat Onal said that Jerusalem – and the holy sites located therein – was among the most important issues of common concern to both countries.
He stressed that Turkey fully supported the Jordanian position on the Al-Aqsa Mosque and desired to share with it the cost of administering the iconic house of worship.
Cam, along with an accompanying delegation, arrived in Amman late on Sunday for a two-day visit to the Jordanian capital.Last Mod: 04 Şubat 2014, 10:54
