Turkey appoints new foreign affairs spokesman


Selcuk Unal who was appointed as the spokesperson of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign affairs replaced Ambassador Burak Ozugergin, who became Turkey's new ambassador in Zagrep.

Unal (39) who holds a B.A. degree in International Relations, started working in the Turkish MFA in 1992.

He was appointed as an attache to the Doha Embassy in 1995, where he later was promoted as the 3rd Secretary. He served as the 3rd Secretary in the Dublin Embassy where he was promoted as the 2nd Secretary.

Between 2000-2002 he served as the 2nd Secretary in the Middle East Department where he was promoted as the 1st Secretary.

He was appointed as the 1st Secretary of Turkey's Permanent Representation in the UN in 2002 where he was promoted as the Undersecretary.

From 2006 until 2008 he served in the HQs. From 2008 until he was appointed as as the new spokesperson of Turkish MFA, Unal served as Undersecretary of Turkey's Permanent Representation to the UN.

Unal who is married can speak English and French.
