Turkey and Australia signed an agreement for prevention of double taxation, and tax evasion.

A statement issued by the Tax Administration Wednesday said the agreement aimed at solving the double taxation problems caused by the growing economic and commercial ties between the two countries.

It said the agreement which was signed by Head of Turkey's Tax Administration, Mehmet Kilci and Australian Ambassador in Ankara, Peter Doyle, also aims to make the two countries more appealing for investors.

The agreement also aims at enabling information exchange between the two countries against tax evasion.

Turkey signed 79 agreement for prevention of double taxation. 74 of these agreements have entered into force.
