Turkish National Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul met with Bosnia-Herzegovina's Defense Minister Selmo Cikotic in Sarajevo on Thursday.

After the meeting, Gonul and Cikotic held a press conference.

Gonul said that they discussed cooperation between the two countries in the areas of defense and military.

There has been a great transformation in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Turkey was pleased to see that Bosnia-Herzegovina gained importance in the international platform, he said.

"Bosnia-Herzegovina has a developed infrastructure in the defense industry. Technical delegations of the two countries will conduct a research on how the two countries will make joint production," he said.

The ministries of the two countries agreed to boost their cooperation in the areas of military and defense, Gonul added.

Cikotic said that Turkey and Bosnia-Herzegovina had a great cooperation and it was reaffirmed in their meeting.

Cikotic said they decided to improve cooperation in training, military exercise, mine clearance and defense industry, stating that Turkey would increase its assistance to Bosnia-Herzegovina on its path to NATO membership.

Turkey has taken very important steps in the areas of economy, politics, technology and culture in the past 20 years and has become a global actor, Cikotic said.
