Turkish Disaster & Emergency Situation Administration said on Tuesday that Turkey had brought 2,297 citizens back to the homeland due to developments in Egypt.
Mehmet Ersoy, the head of the administration, said that 14 jets were sent to Egypt as of Tuesday afternoon, and 1,298 people had been brought from Cairo and Alexandria to Turkey.
Ersoy said Turkey continued to bring Turkish citizens from Egypt due to the ongoing incidents.
The total number of citizens brought from Egypt to Turkey so far reached 2,297, Ersoy also said.
More than 100 people have died in seven days of protests aimed at ending Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's 30-years of rule.
