Turkey, Egypt continue naval manoeuver over Mediterranean

Turkey and Egypt have been performing a concerted military manoeuver, "2012 Sea of Friendship", in eastern Mediterranean.

Turkish Naval Forces joins the exercise with 2 frigates, 2 torpedo boats, 1 tanker, 2 landing ships, 2 helicopters, 1 naval rifle company, and 1 underwater raid team (SAT). F-16 planes and fleet forces of two countries are also participating in the military exercise.

The military exercise aims to try new war techniques as well as exchange knowledge and experience and it takes place as part of the education plan Egypt has been organizing with neighboring countries.

Fight against piracy, fire-fighting and bunkering in the sea are the areas practised in the exercise.

Began on October 7, the military exercise will conclude on October 14.
