Turkey grants $50,00 USD to Cyprus Missing Persons Committee

Turkey on Tuesday donated 50,00 USD to the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) in Cyprus.

The donation was delivered to the committee executives today.

The committee issued a statement and said the committee was endeavoring to put an end to the uncertainty affecting many families and to identify missing persons.

The committee said it had reached 630 missing persons, and handed over the remains of 217 missing persons to their families.

The CMP was established in April 1981 by agreement between the Greek and Turkish Cypriot communities under the auspices of the United Nations. It is the only institutionalized, bi-communal committee in Cyprus.
