Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos discussed the prospects of enhancing bilateral ties over the phone with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan Thursday, diplomatic sources said.

Pavlopoulos made the call during his visit to Ipsala, Greece's border with Turkey, in connection with Easter holidays.

According to the sources, Pavlopoulos and Erdogan agreed that a boost in trade and economic ties between the two countries would be beneficial for people on both sides of the border.

Both presidents also agreed to handle all issues between Greece and Turkey through dialogue and by improving the infrastructure needed for transportation.

Pavlopoulos also expressed his sympathies over the shooting incident involving the bus of Turkish football team, Fenerbahce, which came under attack Saturday.

Erdogan also invited Greek counterpart to visit Turkey and felicitated those observing Easter.
