Turkish Interior Minister Besir Atalay told reporters after returning from Russia, "Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is going to travel to Russia in March. The president, prime minister and interior minister of Russia visited Turkey last year. During President Dmitriy Medvedev's visit to Ankara, Turkey and Russia signed security and cooperation agreements and agreed to cooperate in combat against illicit drug trafficking."
"During my visit to Moscow, Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev and I agreed to cooperate in training of police officers. Russian officials will travel to Russia in the coming months to attend a joint commission meeting. Russia is currently trying to reform its security system. And Russian authorities want to benefit from experiences of Turkish Police Department," he said.
Atalay paid an official visit to Russia as the guest of his Russian counterpart Nurgaliyev. He held a series of talks with Russian authorities both in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
