Turkey says Obama's comments clears up 'axis' debate

Turkish State Minister and Chief Negotiator for EU talks Egemen Bagis said Saturday the recent remarks made by the U.S. President Barack Obama, at a time of debates taking place on Turkey and her axis, indicated that there was no shift in Turkey's axis.

Speaking to the AA in Croatian city of Dubrovnik, Minister Bagis said that strengthening Turkey's eastern, western, northern and southern legs would not mean a shift in axis.

On the contrary, this would strengthen Turkey's axis and widen its axis, Bagis said.

The fact that Turkey was the eastern world's most western and the western world's most eastern point has been recorded by the whole globe, Bagis also said.
