Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Ertugrul Gunay said Wednesday that the meeting of tourism ministers of Turkey, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan focused on visa liberalization, facilitating easier transportation and working on promotion of the region.

Speaking at a joint press conference of the four ministers in Beirut, Gunay said that they were aware of the political and social importance of tourism for the region.

We have to believe in the importance of tourism for success, Gunay said.

We will work so that more people visit our region from different corners of the globe, and Turkey, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan will cooperate to facilitate easier transportation, Gunay said.

Lebanese Minister of Tourism Fady Abboud, in his part, said that the four countries discussed many issues in Wednesday's meeting.

Tourism plays an important role in the economic development of countries. We have formed commissions that will meet annually to promote regional tourism, Abboud also said.
