Turkey wishes Egypt to hold transparent elections soon

Turkey's prime minister said on Tuesday that Turkey wished Egypt to hold transparent elections as soon as possible.

Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey also wished Egypt to ensure constitutional democracy and enter a new era with a pluralist understanding.

"We have stressed in every platform that an international donors meeting should be held to eliminate economic problems of Egypt," Erdogan told a gathering of his Justice & Development (AK) Party at the parliament.

Erdogan also said Turkey was ready to contribute to Egypt's development, and a bright future in peace and stability.

On Friday, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak stepped down after three decades in power due to anti-government protests in his country. On Sunday, Egypt's military dissolved parliament and suspended the constitution.
