Turkey's FM in Baghdad to meet Iraqi leaders

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu arrived in Baghdad early Sunday to hold talks with Iraqi officials.

Davutoglu will meet with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari.

Davutoglu will also have meetings with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi and Iraqi political leaders including Al-Iraqiyah Party Chairman Ayad Allawi, who is set to assume the presidency of soon-to-be-established the Council of National Strategic Policies of Iraq.

Davutoglu's visit will be the first after the new Iraqi government was formed last month. His talks will focus on bilateral relations as well as regional issues. Davutoglu and Turkish diplomats will also discuss preparations for future actions as part of the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council established between the two countries in 2008.

Davutoglu and his delegation will head for Syria after completing talks in Baghdad.
