Turkey's FM marks Europe Day

Turkey's Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu released a message to mark the Europe Day.

Davutoglu said that Turkey was a part of Europe.

Davutoglu released a message to mark the Europe Day and said, the European Union project which brought together European nations on the basis of "universal values" such as freedom, democracy and human rights is a "historic achievement" appreciated by the whole world. This project enabled European nations to achieve their ideals in solidarity with the other nations."

"The Union has gained further strength with accession of each member. Its population reached to 500 million and the Union became one of the most important financial powers of the world. However, the Union will complete the integration process by embracing all European nations without any discrimination," he said.

Turkish minister added, "Turkey will make significant contributions to the European Union with its regional and global influence, dynamic economy and young population. The target of our ongoing accession negotiations is full membership. Problems which emerge in our negotiation process from time to time do not affect Turkey's strong will to become a member of the European Union. Turkey's membership will prove the whole world that compromise among civilizations is possible."
