Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said Thursday his meeting with Israel's Industry and Trade Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer took place upon a request by the Israeli side.
"Our ministry spokesman made a statement about it. Of course, it was the Israeli side that requested such a meeting," Davutoglu told reporters who asked information about the meeting.
On Wednesday, Davutoglu met with Eliezer in Brussels.
Earlier in the day, Foreign Ministry spokesman Burak Ozugergin confirmed the meeting and said that the two ministers discussed the current status of Turkish-Israeli relations following May 31 Israeli raid on ships carrying aid to Gaza and the future of such relations.
Minister Davutoglu reminded Eliezer of Turkey's expectations from Israel -an apology, payment of compensation to the families of those killed and those wounded on May 31, establishment of an international commission to investigate the attack and end to the blockade in Gaza, Ozugergin had said.
