Turkey's FM to visit Iraq in early January

Turkey's foreign minister will travel to Iraq in the first half of January, diplomatic sources said on Monday.

Ahmet Davutoglu will go to Iraq in January to hold talks with Iraqi executives after a new government has been set up in that country.

Diplomats said the date and schedule of the visit were not immediately definite.

Earlier on Monday, Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he would send Davutoglu to Iraq soon, and he, himself, would pay a visit to that country following Davutoglu's working trip.

Iraq's parliament approved last week Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and his government, nine months after the general elections.
