Turkey's Gul says economy top agenda in Nigeria trip

Turkish President Abdullah Gul said that the economy would top agenda of his meetings with Nigerian authorities.

President Gul told reporters on board the plane taking him to Nigeria, "I will attend the D-8 Summit in Abuja. The summit takes place in an African nation for the first time.

Following the summit, I will hold a series of bilateral talks with Nigerian authorities.

Economy will top agenda of these meetings since Nigeria has the biggest economic potential among African countries. Nigeria exports oil to the other countries. It is rich of underground resources. We can cooperate with Nigeria in the areas of investment, trade and defense industry."

Referring to Turkey's foreign policy, President Gul told reporters, "Turkey aims at further improving its relations with both the western and eastern countries. Turkey's relations with the West and the East complete each other."
