Turkey's Gul sees Indonesia most important partner in Asia

Turkish President Abdullah Gul said on Wednesday that they considered Indonesia the most important partner of Turkey in Asia.

Gul hosted a dinner in honor of Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in Dolmabahce Palace in Istanbul.

"We are eager to boost bilateral ties and cooperation in every area with Indonesia," Gul said.

Gul said Turkey had close relations with Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa due to its strategic location and multi-dimensional foreign policy, stating that Indonesia with its industrial infrastructure and development level was an important country.

In his part, Yudhoyono said that the two countries signed an agreement to reach a trade volume worth 5 billion U.S. dollars.

Turkish and Indonesian businessmen gathered and held fruitful talks under the Turkish-Indonesian Trade and Investment Forum, he said.

Yudhoyono said Indonesia and Turkey entered a new era today that will boost prosperity levels of the two countries.
