Turkey's PM urges Israel to change its mentality

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said, "Israel is about to lose its most important friend in the region if it does not change this mentality. What we did was an effort to maintain our friendly ties."

Speaking at the general assembly meeting of the Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TIM), Prime Minister Erdogan said, "as long as children are killed, schools and hospitals are bombed and volunteers carrying humanitarian aid to the region are massacred, prosperity and stability cannot be ensured in the region."

"Such violent policies that are pursued illegally will not yield any positive results. We will not ignore and turn a blind eye in the face of this brutality. We did everything we could to draw attention of the international community and to heal the wounds stemming from this incident," he said.

"Israelis should question themselves. What we did was an effort to maintain our friendly ties. But the Israeli administration did not realize our efforts and made a historical mistake. This mistake was against not only Turkey but also people from 32 countries. There were no weapons on the ships. They were carrying humanitarian aid," Erdogan added.
