Turkey's TIKA goes into service in Pakistan

The coordination office of Turkish International Cooperation Agency (TIKA) in Pakistani capital of Islamabad has gone into service.

Speaking to the AA, TIKA's coordinator in Pakistan Celalettin Gungenci said Monday that the new TIKA office would contribute to the friendship between Turkey and Pakistan.

TIKA will implement technical assistance projects in Pakistan, Gungenci said.

Turkey had pledged in 2009, during the meeting of Democratic Pakistan's Friends Group in Istanbul, the sum of 100 million USD to Pakistan. Out of this amount, 10 million USD was presented to the Pakistani government as cash. The rest of the amount will be utilized in investments in different corners of Pakistan, Gungenci said.

We will work on projects on water, health, agriculture, stockbreeding and education in Pakistan, Gungenci also said.

TIKA is presently active in 23 countries worldwide.
