Turkish activists dead in Israel attack commemorated in New York

Nine Turkish activists, who were killed in Israeli raid on Gaza-bound aid ship Mavi Marmara, were commemorated in New York, the United States on Thursday.

The memorial service was organized by New York-based "El Avda" institution, and supported by several other organizations.

Israeli commandos shot dead eight Turks and an American of Turkish origin on board Turkish ship Mavi Marmara on May 31 on international waters.

Kevin Ovenden, one of the members of non-governmental organization "Viva Palestina", said that Israel's launching a neutral investigation was impossible, adding that the citizens aboard the ship would file lawsuit regarding the incident on May 31.

Ovenden said that aid ships would continue to be sent to Gaza.

They would send the most comprehensive aid convoy ever to Gaza in September, Ovenden said that the convoy would depart from London and reach Egypt via Europe and Morocco.
