Turkish Aeronautical Association (THK) will provide Syrian young people with a flight training program.

Osman Yildirim, director-general of the association, said, "THK will play a more active role in efforts to extinguish forest fires in the neighboring Syria in the coming years. Also, we are planning to provide Syrian young people with a flight training program."

"Preparatory efforts have been continuing for establishment of the Aeronautical University in Turkey. We will also establish an aviation academy in the southeastern province of Gaziantep. Another target of our association is to open aviation training centers in all provinces," he said.

"It was our association which rushed to assistance of Israelis during the forest fire in Haifa. Our team flew for 60 hours by two planes and poured 1,450 tons of water and fire retardant foam on the flames. Israeli people thanked us," he added.

Established in 1925, THK is a non-profit organization with an aim of increasing public awareness and participation in aviation related activities and the national body governing air sports in Turkey.
