President Dervis Eroglu of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Turkish Cypriot Parliament Speaker Hasan Bozer separately received Turkey's main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu on Tuesday.
Kilicdaroglu, who is in TRNC to attend the July 20 Peace and Freedom Day celebrations, said that CHP leaders traditionally pay their first visits to TRNC after being elected.
He said that resolute stance shown by Turkey should continue to overcome difficulties faced by Turkish Cypriot state and pledged to support Turkish Cypriot people in their right cause.
Kilicdaroglu urged European Union and United Nations to pursue more appropriate policies toward Cyprus, adding that Turkey has a lot to do to better explain unjust treatment Turkish Cypriots have been facing for years.
Dervis Eroglu and Hasan Bozer informed Kilicdaroglu about the recent situation of ongoing Cyprus reunification talks between Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots.
Eroglu complained about isolation of Turkish Cypriots and said TRNC has been afloat thanks to assistance from mainland Turkey.
