Turkish State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said Friday the negotiations in Cyprus would continue in a direction that would be beneficial for the Turkish Cypriot people.

Speaking to reporters at Lefkosa's Ercan International Airport, Arinc said that "what was important was the interests of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus".

Turkey will continue to follow the process so that the interests of Turkish Cypriots are protected, Arinc said.

I am pleased to be visiting the TRNC again. I will begin my official talks on Saturday, Arinc said.

While in the TRNC, Arinc will meet with the President of TRNC Dervis Eroglu, Speaker of Parliament Hasan Bozer and Prime Minister Irsen Kucuk.

TRNC Prime Minister Irsen Kucuk said that they were pleased to welcome Arinc to Lefkosa.

Arinc's current visit to the TRNC gave morale to the new Turkish Cypriot government and to the people of the TRNC before the negotiations resume, Kucuk said.

Arinc will depart from the TRNC for Ankara on Monday morning.
