Turkey's Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag said that the Turkish Council is a historical step in constructing a great partnership and he hoped other Turkic republics join Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan in this unity.

Bozdag spoke at a reception held at the Kazakh embassy on the occasion of Kazakhstan’s 22nd independence anniversary, where he also said that Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev greatly contributed to this union.

Kazakh ambassador to Turkey Canseyit Tuymebayev said the level of economic relations between Turkey and Kazakhstan had increased beyond $4 billion in 22 years, with the target being to eventually reach $15-20 billion.

Tuymebayev also presented a Kazakhstan-Turkey Friendship and Cooperation Development Medal to Interior Minister Muammer Guler.
