Turkish doctors have operated 100 children with cleft lips in Uzbekistan.

200 children and adolescents in need of plastic surgery in Namangan and Andijan provinces and Fergana valley were also examined by the Turkish healthcare team as part of a project --"Smiling children, happy families"-- of Turkish

International Coordination and Development Agency (TIKA), A Turkish charity for reconstructive surgery, Uzbekistan's Health Ministry and the Fund Forum of Uzbekistan.

TIKA officer Yavuz Coruh said that 700 children were examined and 230 of them underwent plastic surgery in the last 3 years in the country.

Namangan Deputy Governor Feruza Calalova said that having plastic surgery would change the future of the children by making them happy and thanked Turkey.
