Turkish energy minister talks to Japan press

Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz gave interviews to several biggest media groups in Japan on the first day of his visit to this country.

In his interviews, Yildiz stressed that Turkey wanted to work with Japan for the construction of a nuclear power plant in northern province of Sinop and that he arrived in Japan to hold talks with relevant officials.

Following talks with public officials, I will meet the representatives of various Japanese finance corporations, Yildiz said.

We can reach an agreement with Japan on the Sinop project and could cooperate with third countries as well, Yildiz said.

We believe that Japan can build a nuclear power plant in Sinop with any one of their three giant companies (Toshiba, Hitachi and Mitsubishi). Turkey possesses the needed political will on the matter and mutual interests can intersect at one point, Yildiz also said.
