Turkey's minister of foreign affairs attended the oath-taking ceremony of Kyrgyzstan's new president on Saturday.

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, who arrived in the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek early on Saturday, attended the oath-taking ceremony of Roza Otunbayeva as the interim president of Kyrgyzstan.

Apart from Davutoglu, officials from the Kyrgyz interim administration, local officials, authors, scientists, as well as ambassadors and chiefs of mission of several countries attended the ceremony.

Delivering a speech at the gathering, Otunbayeva said that she would act honestly for the welfare of the Kyrgyz state and nation, moreover, she would protect her country's interests and act in accordance with the laws and democratic values.

People of Kyrgyzstan approved the new constitution in a referendum on June 27 after an interim government led by former foreign minister, Roza Otunbayeva, came to power in the country in April 2010 following anti-government protests that toppled the president, whom the opposition accused of usurping power.

Turkish Foreign Minister Davutoglu, who arrived in Kyrgyzstan to attend Otunbayeva's oath-taking ceremony, is also expected to hold talks with officials from the interim administration, representatives of Meskhetian Turks as well as Turkish community members and businessmen as part of his one-day visit.
