Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu spoke to his US counterpart Hillary R. Clinton on phone over latest developments along the Turkish-Syrian border.

Turkish diplomatic sources said Clinton had told Davutoglu that US was concerned over incidents along the Turkish- Syrian border and that US supported steps which have been taken over the latest incidents in the context of NATO as well as possible steps that could be taken in the future.

Davutoglu held a separate phone talk with his Chinese counterpart Jang Jiechi over the Syrian artillery fire in the Akcakale town near the Turkish-Syrian border.

The Turkish foreign minister briefed Jiechi in detail over the Syrian shelling that killed five Turkish civilians -- all women and children -- and developments in the aftermath of the incident.

Sources said Jiechi had told Davutoglu that China understood Turkey's concerns over its security and that his country followed the Syrian artillery incident very closely.
