Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu briefed international mediator on Syria Lakhdar Brahimi on Wednesday after a mortar bomb fired from Syria landed in southeastern Turkey, killing at least 5 people.
"The minister briefed U.N. and Arab League envoy Brahimi on the incident in a telephone call," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Diplomatic sources said that Davutoglu held the phone conversation with Brahimi after getting briefed by the Turkish General Staff and the Governor of Sanliurfa province Celalettin Guvenc.
Davutoglu is currently in a meeting with senior Turkish diplomats in Ankara.
