Turkish health team treats Iraqi patients in Baghdad

A Turkish health team is treating Iraqi patients in Baghdad as part of an agreement between Turkey and Iraq in the health sector.

The Turkish health team arrived in Baghdad upon a protocol signed between the health ministries of Turkey and Iraq on October 15, 2009 within the frame of works conducted by the Turkey-Iraq High Level Strategic Cooperation Council.

The Turkish health team is not merely treating Iraqi patients but at the same time training Iraqi doctors to utilize the latest technology.

Kamuran Ozden, chairperson of the Turkish health team, said Monday that the team included general surgery specialists, pediatric surgery specialists, plastic surgery specialists, urologists, orthopedists, and gynecologists.

We are here in Baghdad to treat patients. We will conduct various surgeries and host seminars, Ozden stressed.

The Turkish health team is comprised of 25 members.
