Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow received Hakan Fidan, the undersecretary of Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT), in Ashkhabad on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Fidan highlighted importance of a broad cooperation between Turkey and Turkmenistan, and said Turkey welcomed Turkmenistan's role in preserving political balance, peace and stability in the region.

Fidan said the world was supporting Turkmenistan's reforms to diversify its economy and raise the level of welfare of its people, and Turkey and Turkmenistan were eager to boost their multilateral cooperation.

Berdimuhamedov, in his part, said Turkmenistan and Turkey had an efficient and high-level cooperation on political, commercial, economic, cultural and humanitarian issues.

President Berdimuhamedow and Fidan discussed international and regional problems in their meeting, and agreed to share intelligence, and maintain cooperation in ensuring security and stability and countering threats.

Hakan Fidan left Turkmenistan for Turkey after meeting Turkmen intelligence officials.
