Turkish, Palestinian officials discuss 2011 projects

A joint committee comprising members from Turkey and Palestine on Wednesday assessed projects for 2011 to support Palestine.

The joint committee pursues the services and projects launched by Turkey in West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem aiming to assist Palestinian people.

The Turkish delegation is comprised of Musa Kulaklikaya, the chairman of International Cooperation & Development Agency of Turkey (TIKA), as well as members of ministry of foreign affairs. The Palestinian delegation is comprised of a delegation led by Foreign Minister's adviser Ahmad al Deek.

During the 2-day technical studies held in foreign ministry in Ramallah, the parties assessed the ongoing projects both in besieged Gaza Strip and occupied West Bank, which Turkey has been financing and the new projects prepared by Palestine for 2011.

The Palestinian Administration presented new projects worth of 300 million USD both in Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Infrastructure of new Palestinian city, named as "Aykent", in Ariha city of Palestine is among the projects.

Palestinians request Turks to construct all the infrastructure of the new city like water, sewer system and road. Total amount of the infrastructure works amounts to 17 million USD.

New projects on education, health and waster were also developed.

Kulaklikaya told reporters that Turkey currently has 50 ongoing projects on Palestinian territory, "we will continue to support Palestinian people."

Kulaklikaya and the accompanying delegation returned to Turkey after conclusion of talks in Palestine.
