Turkish President Abdullah Gul has called on his Lebanese counterpart to find the two Turkish pilots kidnapped in Lebanon on Friday.

Gul called Lebanese President Suleiman on Friday and asked him to find the pilots and ensure their safe return to their families.

Suleiman is reported to have expressed sadness at the event, saying no effort was spared to find them.

The pilots were abducted when the bus taking them to an airport in Beirut was stopped by armed men. The event took place in early morning on Friday, Lebanese Ministry of Internal Affairs said, identifying the victims as Turkish Airlines pilot Murat Akpinar and his co-pilot Murat Agca.

A group self-titled "Visitors of Imam Reza" took responsibility for the kidnapping.

Meanwhile, Turkish troops within UN peace force UNIFIL in Lebanon have decided to bolster security measures following the event, the AA correspondent has learned.

Lebanese soldiers are seen patrolling around the area where Turkish troops are stationed, he says.
