Turkish President warns envoys over racism in Europe

Turkish President Abdullah Gul said on Wednesday that ambassadors assigned abroad were very important for representation of Turkey in foreign countries.

Gul, who hosted lunch to the ambassadors who attended "The Third Conference of the Turkish Ambassadors", told them, "be on full alert against racism and xenophobia escalating particularly in Europe. Keep in your mind all the dimensions of the issue, act with common sense, and contribute to the solution of the problem".

President Gul said embassies and affiliated consulates represented Turkey's mission in that country, adding it was the duty of the ambassadors to protect material and moral rights of those citizens. "Maximum service to the citizens should be your fundamental priority," he said.
