Turkish and Syrian ministers held talks in Ankara on the sidelines of Turkey-Syria High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting on Monday.

Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan met on Monday his Syrian counterpart Muhammad Naji al-Utri over dinner in Ankara.

Al-Utri arrived in the Turkish capital earlier on Monday. Erdogan and al-Utri are scheduled to co-chair a meeting of the Turkey-Syria High-Level Cooperation Council.

Twelve Turkish ministers and 13 Syrian ministers from each governments will take part at the two-day meeting. Syrian Assistant Vice President Hasan Turkmani will also attend the meeting.

The Turkish-Syrian joint "cabinet" meeting will discuss ways to improve relations and increase cooperation between the two neighbors. Participants will also exchange views on regional and international issues.

Syrian delegation will also be received by Turkish President Abdullah Gul.

"Ministers meet"

Turkish and Syrian ministers held talks in Ankara on the sidelines of Turkey-Syria High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting on Monday.

Turkey's State Minister Hayati Yazici met Syrian Minister of Finance Muhammad al-Husayn; State Minister Zafer Caglayan held talks with Syrian Minister of Economy and Trade Lamia Assi.

Turkey's Interior Minister Besir Atalay came together with Syrian Minister of Local Administrations Tamir al-Hijah; Public Works and Housing Minister Mustafa Demir met his Syrian counterpart Umar Ibrahim Ghalawanji.

The other meetings took place between transportation ministers Binali Yildirim and Yarob Sulayman Badr, agriculture ministers Mehdi Eker and Adil Safr, and Turkey's Energy & Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz and Syrian Minister of Oil Sufiyan Alaw.
