Turkish and Palestinian telecommunications companies signed an agreement whereby Palestine would be connected with the rest of the world through cable communications.
The agreement was signed in Ramallah at a ceremony attended by the Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, Turk Telekom Group's CEO Hakam Kanafani, Turk Telekom International and Wholesale Sales Department's head Mehmet Toros, CEO of Pantel company Gregg Betz and CEO of Paltel company Memduh al-Aqr.
Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA) at the ceremony, al-Aqr said that "with this agreement, Palestine will be in direct touch with the rest of the world without need for Israeli companies".
Turk Telekom's Toros said that they were proud with the new partnership.
Prime Minister Fayyad stated that the partnership would help the Palestinian economy.
