Ukraine failed on promises to Crimean Tatars: leader

The President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) met with the chairman of the Crimean Tatar National Assembly in Ankara on Friday.

PACE President Mevlut Cavusoglu got together with Mustafa Kirimoglu, chairman of the Crimean Tatar National Assembly and a Ukrainian deputy, at his office in the Turkish capital.

During the meeting, Kirimoglu said that Crimean Tatars still struggled with the socio-economic problems that had arisen following the community's return to its homeland.

Kirimoglu said Ukrainian officials had promised to solve the problems of Crimean Tatars, however, no concrete steps had been taken on the issue yet.

Speaking at the gathering, Cavusoglu noted that his assembly paid close attention to the problems of the Crimean Tatar community.

Noting that he had discussed those problems with Ukrainian authorities during his visit to Ukraine last September, Cavusoglu said PACE would continue to extend support to Crimean Tatars to help them solve their issues.
