US Obama calls Turkey's Erdogan over leaked cables

Turkey's prime minister spoke to the U.S. president by phone on Saturday.

U.S. President Barack Obama called Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan to talk about claims posted on web-site Wikileaks as well as Turkish-U.S. relations.

Obama also thanked Erdogan for sending fire-fighting planes to Israel to help put out a forest fire.

According to the White House, the two leaders were of the same opinion that the Wikileaks documents would not affect or harm close cooperation between Turkey and the United States.

Obama and Erdogan reaffirmed their commitment to cooperate on a wide range of issues, and Obama expressed his regret over the unacceptable act of Wikileaks.
