U.S. Department of State's spokesman Philip Crowley said on Thursday that United States supported dialogues which will repair the fractures between Turkey and Israel.
"We certainly support this kind of dialogue that hopefully can help repair the fractures that have existed in recent weeks and months between the two countries," Crowley said while commenting on a meeting between Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and Israeli Trade & Industry Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer held in Brussels.
Asked if the U.S. had any role in sort of promoting talks between Turkey and Israel, Crowley said, "We have had conversations with both countries individually. In those conversations, we have reinforced that a relationship between Turkey and Israel is not only in the best interest of the region, it is in the interest of -- and supports our interests in the region as well. "
"It has been a valuable relationship. There have been several times in the past where Turkey has played an important mediation role with Israel and other countries in the region. So we recognize the importance of the relationship, and we certainly support this kind of dialogue that hopefully can help repair the fractures that have existed in recent weeks and months," Crowley said.
