The number of passengers using airports in Turkey increased 24 percent in the first six months of 2010 when compared to the same period of 2009.

The number of passengers using airports in Turkey increased 24 percent and reached 44.6 million in the first six months of 2010, when compared to the same period of 2009.

Directorate General of State Airports Authority (DHMI) stated on Tuesday that air traffic also increased 16 percent to 552,327 in the mentioned period.

Istanbul's Ataturk Airport met 33 percent of air and passenger traffic of Turkey in the first six months of 2010.

The number of passengers increased 25 percent in domestic flights and 19 percent in international flights in Antalya, Izmir-Adnan Menderes, Mugla-Dalaman, and Milas-Bodrum airports in the first half of 2010.

The number of planes which used Turkish air space increased 7.3 percent to 24,737 in June 2010, when compared to June 2009.

Plane traffic increased 13.7 percent to 43,795 in domestic flights, and rose 17 percent to 45,375 in international flights in June 2010 when compared to June 2009.

Passenger traffic increased 21 percent to 4.4 million in domestic flights, and rose 18.3 percent to 5.9 million in international flights in June 2010 when compared to June 2009.
