Air Transport World, one of the important international publications of aviation sector, chose Turkish Airlines (THY) for 2010 "world's market leadership" award.
THY Director General Temel Kotil received the award in a ceremony that took place in Washington, D.C..
Kotil said that he was honored to receive the award on behalf of 16,000 personnel of THY.
He said that people liked the THY advertisement with famous tennis player Caroline Wozniacki very much, adding that the advertisement with NBA player Kobe Bryant would also draw attention.
Kotil noted that while other airline companies suffered loss and number of their passengers dropped, THY increased number of its passengers and made profit.
The reason is very simple: if you want to sell in international market, you have to offer services of highest quality, he said.
Meanwhile, Emirates Airlines was selected the best airline company.

The company was founded in 1933 with a fleet of five airplanes that carried a total of 28 passengers. THY made its first domestic flight in 1933 and the first international flight in 1947.
