A Bolivian flagged cargo ship was dragged because of heavy storm and rainfall and crashed into sea cliff in southern province of Antalya early on Friday.

The empty cargo ship, "Sea Bright", listed on its side after hitting rocks and made emergency call.

18 crew members were rescued and hospitalized. The crew members were reported to be in good health.

Officials said the cook of the ship, Kotb Abd Lah Mohamed Hoseen (47), who jumped into the sea immediately after the crash, was reported to be missing.

The captain, Galal Ahmed Mohamed Gad (57), did not leave the listing ship, but later he was reported to be rescued.

Heavy storm and giant waves caused damage to hawsers of the ships in the harbour. Many cargo ships sheltered the seaport in Antalya and and small bays.

Emin Pehlivan, the head of the Fire Brigade Department in Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, told A.A correspondent that 13 crew members of Sea Bright jumped into the sea and were rescued when the ship washed up into the shore and four people were rescued by the fire brigade.

Pehlivan said, "16 of the crew members are from Egypt and 2 of them are from Syria. There were four crew members who were stranded but later were rescued by the fire brigade." Pehlivan said cook of the ship who jumped into the sea was still missing.

Pehlivan said fuel tank of the ship cracked and the fuel spilled into the sea.

It was reported that one of the crew members under treatment in Antalya Hospital suffered from a broken leg.

Separately, another cargo ship, "Rant", also ran aground in Adrasan Bay in Kumluca town because of bad weather conditions.

Captain of the ship made wireless announcement and asked for help.

Coast Guard Command and gendarmery immediately took action to help the ship.

There is problem with communication because electricity is off in Adrasan and environs because of storm.
