Electricity consumption in Turkey was up 9.7 percent in April when compared to the same month last year.

Electricity consumption in Turkey was up 9.7 percent in April when compared to the same month last year.

According to the Electricity Transmission Company of Turkey (TEIAS), electricity consumption in April 2010 was recorded as 16.2 billion kilowatt-hour (kWh) while in April 2009 electricity consumption was recorded as 14.8 billion kilowatt-hour (kWh).

Electricity production in Turkey in April was recorded as 16.3 billion kWh.

In April, Turkey bought 42.9 million kWh of electricity from Iran and 15.6 million kWh of electricity from Azerbaijan.

During the same month, Turkey sold 107.6 million kWh of electricity to Iraq.
