The European Commission approved on Thursday an aid fund worth 27.2 million euros to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
"This new fund reflects the strong pledge that EU makes for the economic integration of the Turkish Cypriot community. We continue to support future reunification of the island through dialogue and mutual prosperity," said Stefan Fule, EU's top official for enlargement.
The new fund will be allocated to projects in environmental preservation, improving highway security, supporting civil society and protection of cultural heritage.
The EU has provided a total of 320 million euros in financial aid since 2006.
