The Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs has terminated a contract with AKC Petroleum Goods for the management of a picnic area in Fatih Forest after the company transferred its management rights to leading Turkish construction company Ağaoğlu.
The ministry launched an investigation into a project known as “Maslak 1453,” which will be built by Ağaoğlu, after claims that the ministry had allocated part of the Fatih Forest for the project. The investigation found that the AKC Petroleum Goods had breached the rules of the agreement by transferring its management rights without getting permission from the ministry.
A commercial promoting the Maslak 1453 construction project, frequently aired on TV, features a model of a huge residence-style apartment complex constructed inside a forest. The commercial was shot in Fatih Forest, which led some to speculate that the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs had allocated a part of the forest for the Ağaoğlu project.
Releasing a statement on the issue two weeks ago, the ministry denied the claims, adding that the project is not inside the boundaries of the forest. The ministry also stated that no permission was given to the construction company to shoot the commercial inside Fatih Forest.Last Mod: 13 Kasım 2012, 17:14
