German Minister visits Turkey's TOBB in Ankara

German Minister for Economics and Technology Rainer Bruederle said Wednesday Turkey is expected to grow more than Germany will in 2010.

Rainer Bruederle and an accompanying delegation of German businesspeople attended a working dinner hosted by the chairman of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Rifat Hisarciklioglu in Ankara.

Speaking at the dinner, Bruederle said that Turkey and Germany can support each other to grow.

Turkey and Germany are countries that complement each other. Turkey is an attractive country for Germany. As such, a large group of German businesspeople are accompanying me in Turkey, Bruederle stressed.

Turkey and Germany are firmly clasped together. The two countries are involved in projects such as Nabucco, railways, telecommunications, communication and the European Union (EU), Bruederle said.

Turkey is a turning point. Turkey and Germany can work together in many other countries, Bruederle said.

There are opportunities in Turkey for cooperation and investments, Bruederle also said.

Hisarciklioglu, in his part, said that Turkey has become an industrial giant in its region.

Turkey is going through enormous change and has an incredible entrepreneurship, Hisarciklioglu said.

92 percent of Turkey's total exports of 132 billion USD are comprised of industrial goods, Hisarciklioglu said.

If we want to be strong in the region, we need to have Turkish and German businesspeople cooperate with each other. We can work together especially in Iraq, Hisarciklioglu said.

Germany has played a positive role in Turkey's EU process. I hope that Turkey will continue on its EU path with the support of Germany in the future, Hisarciklioglu also said.
