Gul calls on Turkish firms to invest in Kazakhstan

Turkey's president who is on an official trip to Kazakhstan has called on Turkish companies to invest in this country.

Speaking at a joint conference with his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev in Astana on Tuesday, President Abdullah Gul said Kazakhstan was in the customs union with Russia and Belarus which made production in this country very appealing.

Gul said the trade volume between Turkey and Kazakhstan in the previous year had reached 3 billion USD adding that they aimed to increase it up to 10 billion USD.

"We attach importance to production as well as trade, therefore I invite Turkish companies to invest in Kazakhstan," said Gul.

Gul who said that he believed investments would increase soon thanked Kazakh contractors for the convenience provided to Turkish contractors.

Gul said that during the meeting with Nazarbayev they discussed bilateral relations as well as regional issues.

Gul said majority of the problems in the region occurred in the Caucasus and Asia.

"It is important to solve problems before they grow into greater problems. It is harder to solve problems once wars and conflicts break out. It is important to take precautions and solve problems with diplomatic and political means and build confidence," said Gul.
