Indian Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said on Sunday there was no question of rolling back a recent fuel price hike.
"No question of fuel price hike rollback," Mukherjee told reporters on the sidelines of a conference.
India had freed up state-subsidised petrol prices and raised prices of other fuels in late June.
However, the deregulation resulted in protests from opposition parties, and the main opposition Hindu-nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party has called a nation-wide strike on July 5.
